Lipa Advocates

All over the world, special people are truly making a difference in the lives of children. These exemplary individuals, whether through teaching or helping the less fortunate, leave footprints of hope with their dedication to spreading opportunities for education. They are our Lipa Advocates.

By using our children’s games as educational tools, our Advocates alter the boundaries of possibility for the young learners they work with. Keep reading to find out exactly who they are, what they do, and how they’re achieving amazing things.

Shai Samet

Shai Samet

Shai Samet is an experienced and award-winning privacy consultant and entrepreneur as well as founder and president of the kidSAFE® Seal Program, a fast-growing safety certification service for kid-friendly websites and applications. kidSAFE® provides a “seal of approval” for websites, apps, and other virtual environments for children, confirming that they are safe and appropriate places for children to play and learn, which is what Lipa Learning strives for with all of our games. Shai Samet developed and launched kidSAFE® in early 2011.

Jana Klinderová Píchová

Jana Klinderová Píchová

Jana is an educator and psychologist. She has been working for eight years with overweight children and their families, firstly with family weight reduction courses, where she participated in the development of its methodology, and later with individual clients. For several years Jana also worked in foster homes with neglected and maltreated children as a support system for family rehabilitation. Currently she is working in her own counseling practice treating obesity using the CBT method and integrative psychotherapy, and she writes articles about obesity. In Lipa she is helping to develop the educational curriculum, educational strategies, and individual projects.

Ladislava Whitcroft

Ladislava Whitcroft

Ladislava Whitcroft is an expert on education, namely on reading literacy and the development of both creative and critical thinking. Her current activities center around the work she does for Lipa and Charles University's Faculty of Education. Along with co-authoring an electronic handbook of reading for teachers and an interactive e-book for children, she has created several e-learning projects of her own, including methodologies and articles. Time permitting, Ladislava writes for the kids' website Šotkoviny (http://www.sotkoviny.cz/), and she loves to translate and take her adventurous spirit on travels around the world.

Srini Swaminathan

Srini Swaminathan

An alumnus of Teach for India, Srini Swaminathan is the Educational Advisor for organizations like Report Bee and Madhi Foundation in India, and works closely with the Barefoot College Education program. Srini grew up in poverty, and motivated by his mother and teachers, he decided to dedicate his life to education. In 2010 he became a full-time teacher in a low-income community in Mumbai and ran marathons to raise funds for iPads and projectors for his classrooms. Since then he’s run 27 marathons to bring technology to schools across India. Now Srini continues his life’s path teaching children and training teachers in India.

Jo Booth

Jo Booth

Jo Booth OTR/L has been an Occupational Therapist for over 35 years and is currently practicing at EasterSeals of SEPA, where she focuses on Early Intervention in both school and home outreach based settings. In addition, she writes reviews for Teachers With Apps and other sites on educational applications, products, and topics of interest regarding the education of children with special needs. She has been involved with Lipa Learning for almost a year, working a great deal on app revisions and reviews, helping to complete our Lipa curriculum, and doing other activities in cooperation with our education department.
